The Quietus review of Supersonic:

After Dalek's basstastic avant-rap rumblings complete with an invitation for Donald Trump to "suck my entire dick", it's time for Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs to once more resurrect and remould The Spirit Of Sabbath with riff after riff after mother-effing riff. Each to their own, but it's bit of a shame that the merry moshers at the front aren't concentrating more on half-naked singer Matthew Baty's excellent stagecraft as he stomps and slinks around with bombastic authority. Baty makes a moving speech about having been in this very room during the festival's closing night back in 2018, headlined by Shirley Collins, and how he wept through the entirety of the folk legend's set. He is honoured to be performing in the same spot. But rock is what Pigs came here to do, and soon the riffs are flying out once more, assisted in the final leg by Gordon from Terminal Cheesecake.

Live Forever review of Deershed:

It wasn’t the weather but ill health that had forced Dublin post-rock mavens Fontaines D.C to withdraw, but cometh the hour, cometh Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs who, accompanied by another monsoon, rip into a noise wall assembled from their particular corner of Sabbath/Hawkwind/Stoner/Doom metal. Singer Matt Batty enters dressed in a cape, making you wonder whether he’s taking this thing a bit too seriously, but the show is headliner theatre from minute one, the band leaving no downtuned chord unbludgeoned in what is a jaw dropping spectacle of raw power.

The National Student say some Words about Julie's Haircut's new single

They say:

Julie’s Haircut – Until The Lights Go Out
Veterans of spaced-out rock from northern Italy, Julie’s Haircut has released a new single in the form of ‘Until The Lights Go Out’. Right from the off, the track exudes a spookiness reminiscent of garage rock stalwarts, the Oh Sees but also nods to the originators of the genre The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. Its escalating organ and rapid drumming match the vocals’ repeated insistence to “dance to the thunderstorm”.

Miss Stacia dances with Bonnacons of Doom at Kozfest

Here are some pics of Miss Stacia, the legendary dancer in Hawkwind performing with Bonnacons of Doom at Kozfest on this last weekend.

This apparently is the first time Stacia has danced with a psych rock band in over 40 years, since she last danced with the mighty Hawkwind.

Fringe Review say some words about Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs live at Latitude

They say:

I seem to be a little late to the party with Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs. The first I heard of them was a video I didn’t ask for on The Internets about six months ago, which I watched with what I assumed was meant to be horror, but slowly realised I was supposed to be taking seriously. It was both awful and wonderful at the same time, so when I saw they were here I decided to see if they’d force me off that fence of indecision.

They powerfully pushed me off, and I gaily ran so far into the yes field that I can no longer see that stupid metaphorical fence. I simply didn’t understand. But now I know better.

“I think these guys might be quite loud,” the sweet guy says to his cherubic boy, about seven or eight years old, as the apocalyptic-tinged sound check begins. “Is that alright?” “It’s fine daddy!” The boy insists sweetly. Because this is Latitude there are large numbers of middle-class children around. They look like they’d know what to expect at a vegan dinner party, and probably have complex views on tapenade...

Get into This makes Julie's Haircut one of their SIngles of the week

They say:

Julie’s Haircut: Until The Lights Go Out

Italian Psych Rock outfit, Julie’s Haircut, are back for their second album, In The Silence Electric, releasing their first single, Until The Lights Go Out.

It’s a perfect introduction to their forthcoming album, with an organ drone and a heavy drum beat providing the basis for the song.

It winds its way through each verse, lifting in each chorus, with an almighty and chaotic power, before finally it becomes a fuzzy and almost unrecognisable noise of guitars, complementing the visuals provided in their music video.

This one is definitely getting saved into many of our Spotify playlists that’s for sure.

PETBRICK are a Supernormal 'Band to watch' according to Astral Noize

They say:

What happens when you stick Big Lad/Death Pedals/Johnny Broke’s Wayne Adams in a room with metal legend Iggor Cavalera and ask them to create something primal? The answer is Petbrick, a psych-noise outfit who’ve already played with the likes of Full Of Hell and The Body and at alt-metal mecca Roadburn despite a relatively short lifespan thus far. The duo’s live show is a transcendent experience, and with them having recently announced their debut full-length I, due in late October, their set at Supernormal will be an exciting chance to see some new material and catch them before the venues inevitably start to increase in size...
