Micsugliando reviews Mamuthones – Fear on the Corner

It reads (roughly translated):

Mamuthones is the solo project by Alessio Gastaldello, drummer for Jennifer Gentle, the leading Italian prog-rock band of the '00s. After leaving the band in 2007 and having passed from drums to synths and vocals, Gastaldello decided to give free rein to his passion for esoteric and ritualistic-psychedelic music in the footsteps of the kraut-rock groups, the more schizoid Pink Floyd and of the darkest free punk of the eighties. His first album (in collaboration with Fabio Orsi) was an EP called The First Born, released in 2008.

The first LP accredited to the only Gastaldello came out the year after with the title of Sator which presented an even more gloomy and Teutonic sound oriented towards the magical rituals of the Sardinian paleo-culture and of the most obscure Middle Ages (Gastaldello is Sardinian of origin and the Mamuthones are masks of the Marmoiada carnivals); two former Jennifer Gentle, Marco Fasolo (guitar) and Isacco Maretto (bass) and their historical manager Marco Damiani (voice) collaborated on the album. To support the live activity, the seasoned drummer Maurizio Boldrin (64) was hired and the Mamuthones, assumed the form of trio (with Fasolo on guitar, bass and piano), released their third album Mamuthones (in 2011) which projected them definitively as protagonists of the Italian and European occult psychedelia scene (with enthusiastic reviews of Wire and the Times)...
