Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs have the pleasure of becoming part of a NORTHERN MONK patron project.
They’ll be brewing and releasing 7 ‘Pigs beers’ over the next year or so. They ask the band what we want to drink, they tell them, they brew it and we all have a lovely time!!!
The first beer is ‘Sweet Relief’, a 7% Grape Soda IPA. It’s real nice.
They celebrating by having a little party this Friday at one of their favourite bars, Mean Eyed Cat NCL.

Norwich Music City Review Gnoomes / Wooden Shjips’ Gig
When Wooden Shjips’ name appeared on the Norwich Arts Centre listings I was quite excited to spot it and immediately marked it on the calendar, I was even more excited when it was recently announced that regular visitors to Norwich, Gnoomes were added to the bill, making it more like a double-header gig for me.....
.....So, having arrived just in time I quickly made my way to the front and was immediately impressed by their huge and impressive sound, so powerful with the expanded line-up and the Norwich Arts Centre acoustics. A full 45 minute set absolutely flew by in a mesmeric storm of what many called shoegaze but Gnoomes afficionados know it to be their own brand of what they call stargaze, which is a much better name, mixed with some strong and insistent krautrock creating a lucid dreaming feel. This waking life. The guitars are loud and exciting, mixed with effects, synths and incredibly precise drumming. The set flowed brilliantly with songs often merging into one another before they closed with a blistering, re-arranged and shortened version of the 16 minute epic Roadhouse, the song that first brought them to my attention. They’ve got a really exciting live edge and the crowd loved it. Established Gnoomes fans and first-timers alike.

NARC say some words about Teeth of the Sea's up-and-coming Newcastle show
They say:
THE KALEIDOSCOPICALLY DIVERSE AND INVENTIVE BAND PLAY IN NEWCASTLE
Back in the nineties, a certain strain of British music journalist seemed to devote their attention to coming up with increasingly unwieldly, implausible and obscure sub-genres and scenes that they could claim to have ‘discovered’: the Camden lurch or Romo, anyone? (I mean, who would ever take a genre called Britpop seriously? It’ll never catch on.)
While the hyperbole and incestuousness of that clique isn’t missed, when writing about a band as kaleidoscopically diverse and inventive as Teeth Of The Sea, it’s hard not to conclude they need a whole new tag all of their own. Anything from intense rave breakdowns, dramatic heavy metal solos, sinister music concrete, melodious Miles Davis horn melodies, glacial ambient pop and much more can be found in the toolkit for their ever-restless and always impressive post-everything work.
Having released their brilliant, audacious fifth album Wraith earlier in the year, the band now bring their stellar live show to Newcastle’s Star & Shadow Cinema on Saturday 8th June for a very welcome Tyneside return. If that’s not enough for you, support on the night comes from local post-rock dons Parastatic. On the back of some sporadic but exhilarating live shows previewing new material last year, expect fireworks. There’s also the matter of new duo Beanotown Secret Police, who open the show with their minimal synth punk.

The New Noise interviews DJINN
They say:
Let's start with the company name. Jinn, or djinn in Arabic, would be roughly translatable as a goblin. A supernatural entity, cited in the Koran and entered into the mythological / folkloristic imagination, halfway between the angelic world of divinities and the diabolical world of human beings. More precisely, they are "spiritual spirits" who infested deserts and inspired poets. Mysterious creatures perhaps portrayed in black and white on the cover artwork. Equally mysterious is the formation of the present duo, composed by members of the Swedish bands Goat and Hills, both not by chance in the catalog of the psychedelic Rocket Recordings, which gives this instrumental debut to the press. Rocket, who has recently released Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation's third album and is about to release the new work by the Russians Gnoomes, even though the British label's 2019 has been branded for now especially by the sensational Wraith of Teeth Of The Sea , between noise, electronics and free-jazz.
The DJINN project moves even more in a free-jazz perspective, so much so that it is considered - according to the press notes - "the first properly jazz record" by Rocket, with the ghosts of Alice and John Coltrane moving in the background. In this sense the first track in the lineup is clear, entitled "Jazz Financed" and gradually more and more cacophonous. The "Algäbbanem" and "My Bankaccount" are in the back, well in line with avant-afro-rock astral trends. The most fascinating and basically peculiar episodes, however, are those in which one turns towards obscure metaphysical dimensions, as in the luxuriant and pacifying first extract “Le Jardin De La Morte”, a step away from the new age, or in the graceful melancholy in point of sheets of "Ghostdance", which with its delicate armory of wood, keys and percussion would not mind Angelo Badalamenti. "Fiskehamn Blues" keeps an ear turned to the East, while "Rertland Bussels" anagrams the name of the philosopher Bertrand Russell paying homage to the words as in a transcendent voodoo rite. Until the closing by the ironic assonances of "Djinn And Djuice". Neo-monks of worship.

Normans gives Gnoomes album MU! a 9/10 review
They say:
If you don't know you won't know, Gnoomes are a Russian psych band that play aggressive, mean, exultant music that's built for live performance. According to the band, this new album 'MU!' is an attempt at recreating their live sound and I think they've done a great job.
On opener 'Utro', the instruments melt into each other but you can also hear snatches of fuzzy synth bass, squawking electronic textures, and some nice Kev Shields-y guitar. It's the shoegaze element that I wasn't expecting from Gnoomes. The fact that they're on Rocket Recordings (a consistently excellent label) and how they've got a kind weird band name, I was settled in ready for some aggressive balls-to-the-wall psych rock a la Pigs x7 or Goat and yes there was this, but there are some really washy, heavenly moments when the song just opens wide and swallows you up. A moment like this happen on second track 'Sword In The Stone', where, about two and a half minutes in, I felt compelled to turn the volume up another nine notches for a thoroughly enjoyable sonic assault. There are so many brilliant songs on this record.
I love the baggy groove of 'Glasgow Coma State', 'Sine Waves Are Good For Your Health' is the best song title I've heard for a hot minute, and 'Ursa Major' and 'Feel Now' are like joyous sonic gut punches doing their best to encourage you to damage your already pretty defiled hearing. I could go on et on, but unfortunately (only in the sense that I have to stop talking about this record) I must start reviewing other albums. I will definitely be giving this record another spin as soon as I can. Now you know.
