Perkele reviews GNOD at Fuzz Club Eindhoven

They say:

The palm of the best concert of the day goes to GNOD. We must immediately admit that it is hard to hear them. Two synthesizers, a guitar and a saxophone: the beginning is traumatic. The sounds are so extreme and dissonant that they rise up the nose, take to the throat, they bounce the organs and reach the hair. A hypnotic and lacerating pandemonium almost unbearable to listening. The incarnation chosen by the Manchester collective for this session creates a state of tension so deep as to test the public. But once they have entered their universe so transcendent yet concrete, they are kidnapped by their ability to make noise an experience (s). The GNOD conception of acid psychology is driven by an extraordinary explorative capacity: their show is an immersion in sound places designed with extreme creativity, which takes the form of a liquefied trance, a synth-oriented hallucination

Drowned in Sound say a few words about Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation at Fuzz CLub's Fest in Eindhoven

They say:

"...Josefin Öhrn and the Liberation are another of this weekend's highlights, playing a heady mix of errant, shamanic psychedelia that's hypnotic in both execution and delivery."

Electrophone say some words about Goatman

They say:

Goatman, solo project of a member of GOAT
Goatman is, as its name suggests, the new solo project of a member of the collective GOAT. The masked Swedish has just announced a first solo album called Rythms .

Recorded in the hometown of Korpilombolo, in the north of Sweden, at the end of 2017, the 6 tracks of Rhythms reveal a real collision between African rock, jazz, reggae, gospel and psychedelic music.

Goatman plays all the instruments, but he's still surrounded by some big names like Hanna Östergren for percussion, Swedish band Hills and Träd, Gräs & Stenar and Senegalese singer Seydi Mandoza whose voice is heard on Jaam Ak Salam, first track listening.

The album is released in October at Rocket Recordings. The vinyl version of 280 copies is already sold-out.

Flowers Must Die release Go-Between's cover version

From the band:

Flowers Must Die was asked by the Brazilian blog "The blog that celebrates itself" to do a cover of a Go-Between song for their upcoming compilation. We featured on the Suicide compilation two years ago and have been asked to join a few others in between, but being spread out in three different towns in two different countries doesn´t make it easy to quickly record a new track. But as soon as Jonas got the message, he couldn´t resist as The Go-Betweens are his favourite pop group.

He chose the track "Your Turn My Turn" from the 1982 album "Send me a Lullaby" because it makes him think of Flower Travelin’ Band for some reason, so it seemed like a good fit for us. It was recorded in Linköping with Jonas, Martin, Sven and Lars over one session and then Lisa added violin from her home and Rickard some saxofone in the background.

Noisey say some words about Shit & Shine's new track 'Yeah i'm on Acid'

They say:

Shit & Shine's new end-of-summer anthem makes a nauseating jam out of samples from 'Heavy Metal Parking Lot'

As another endless summer crawls toward a close with a string of oppressively humid days up and down the east coast of the United States, I find myself prone to despair. It's a familiar mindset in these dog days, in which I am wholly consumed with the impending doom of climate catastrophe and more or less unable to remember a time when i wasn't slicked in a thin-to-moderate layer of sweat. I went to Europe this summer for a few weeks, it turns out it's hot there too.

It's easy to get consumed by these end-of-summer doldrums, and find yourself laying half naked in front of a barely working fan, devoid of all hope. Junk-shop techno tracks, like those constructed of late by the Texas-based producer Shit & Shine for labels like Editions Mego and Diagonal have always made easy bedfellows for this sort of brain-cooking climate. And fortunately, just when I needed it the most, the man born Craig Clouse has re-emerged with a real brain-scrambler called "Yeah I'm on Acid!"...

The Skinny previews Josefin Öhrn at this weekends Manchester Psych Fest

They say:

Josefin Öhrn
Josefin Öhrn is capable of mesmerising much larger venues but the intimacy of a small space at Manchester Psych Fest will no doubt make her performance all the more memorable. With a haunting, trippy vibe radiating from her stage, Öhrn will captivate with her ethereal lyrics and rich vocal range.

$hit & $hine are hitting Europe for some shows to coincide with the release:

02 Nov / Mayhem / Copenhagen
03 Nov / Cafe Haerverk / Oslo
05 Nov / Cafe Central / Brussels
07 Nov / Cafe 12 / Geneva
08 Nov / Secret Location / Lugano
09 Nov / Tabtap / Schaffhausen
10 Nov / Paper Dress Vintage / London

-

The press release reads:

$hit & $hine – Bad Vibes
Trapped in a nightmarish psychic landscape midway between the bars of Texas and the bass-bins of Berghain, Shit And Shine are back for the attack, volley-ing forth across the consciousness with a delirious voyage into the nether. ‘Bad Vibes’ is a singularly appropriate moniker for a collection of audial explorations that dauntlessly set off down labyrinthine mind-maps to oblivion, all the while with an Acid-House-style smile plastered on their face.

The sonic misdemeanors of Craig Clouse have taken on many forms in his thirty-odd-year travails through transgression, moving from London to Texas and back whilst journeying from the grinding noise rock of Crown Roast, through the Am-phetamine Reptile abjection of Hammerhead and the deadbeat riffage of Todd, all the while with a savagery of delivery, an experimental mindset and an off-kilter sense of derangement high on the agenda.

In retrospect however, all other projects appear little more than a mere warm-up for Shit And Shine, a beast which - over the course of the last fourteen or so years and thirty plus releases on labels as disparate as Riot Season, Editions Mego, Diagonal and Load -  has proven itself capable of morphing into new, terrifying and destructive shapes seemingly of its own volition, in a manner not altogether unlike the alien protagonist of John Carpenter’s The Thing.

Whilst initially Shit And Shine was a vehicle for bloody-minded multi-percussive rhythmic drive, Faust-style avant-incongruity and brain-curdling noise - as on early gems such as 2005’s ‘Ladybird’ and 2008’s ‘Cherry’ - a move more recently to the realm of binary barbarism and BPMs has only upped the stakes still higher in their quest for absurdity and abandon. ‘Bad Vibes’ - their fourth release for Rocket after 2017’s ‘That’s Enough’, 2015’s ’54 -Synth Brass, 38 - Metal Guitar, 65 - Cathedral’ ,and their earlier ‘Collisions’ split with Gnod (one of many Rocket bands to have been heavily influenced by $n$) is a culmination of everything Clouse has lurched towards thus far. A freewheeling assault on the senses and all or any sensibilities, it infuses the monomaniacal mindset of techno and house with the caligulan mania of The Butthole Surfers, as skeletal techno, sample -strewn collages, kraut-fried repetition and dementoid electronic scree are thrown heedlessly  into a blender with tantalising and terrifying results.

This is a domicile where the sinister Badalamenti-damaged shuffle of opener ‘Bottle Brush’ is more than comfortable alongside the sunstruck abstract disco fervour of ‘Yeah I’m On Acid’, one whereby pulverising 303-driven piledrivers like ‘Mingler’ and ‘Backstage Passes!’ lock horns with the industrial-tinged murk of the title-track, and one in which the disembodied and sampled voices of a PCP-afflicted 1988 James Brown and the drink-and-drug-slurring protagonists of the seminal ‘Heavy Metal Parking Lot’ can only bellow in horror at the chaos that surrounds.

Fresh from yet another demolition derby between high trash and the lowest avant-garde, ‘Bad Vibes’ is the sound of the Shit And Shine jalopy rocketing way beyond the speed limit on the lineage of the lysergic. Frankly, you’d better either get on board or get well out of the way.

Reverb for Lovers say some words about Goatman

They say:

A member of the world music psycho band Goat embarks on a solo path.

Goatman is part of the Goat group who would like to remain anonymous. On October 12th he will release his solo debut " Rhythms " (Rocket Recordings).

First of all there is the track "Jaam Ak Salam". This is the voice of Senegal singer Seydi Mandoza, who offers whipping vocals. Otherwise, Goatman stays very close to the hypnotic world music psych sound of his main band. Only the brass section has not been heard so by Goat.

Never Mind the Hype reviews Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation at FC Fest in Eindhoven

They say:

Josefin Öhrn
Via France, Finland, Germany and Amsterdam Australia we have now arrived in Sweden, confirming the international character of the festival and the special versatility. We also see more women on the stages of the Effenaar this festival day. Good business. Especially when we are confronted with the rich atmospheric psychedelics that pour out the Swedes like a warm blanket of relaxing pleasure over the Fuzz Club audience, in which the singing of the frontwoman almost intoxicates into serene excitement. Delicious! Musically it is also a very refreshing actress because of the dynamics of the set and the different genre-pots from which is harvested: from intense reverb-laden melodies, mixed with triphop, subdued and fragile vocal lines to heavy bombast in the apotheosis. Here we will want to see and hear more and feel and listen in the future. Highlight!

Rewind/Fast Forward makes GOATMAN it's track of he day

They say:

Crazed shouting, urgent rhythms, dazzling bursts of brass, fat bass, lively flickers of guitar, heavy African vibes, multiple analog synth solos, ecstatic handclaps, a joyous repetitive, psychedelic groove... If these things appeal to you, give this excellent new track by Goatman a try. The mysterious artist is a member of the incredible Swedish band Goat, and is also signed to the otherworldly Rocket Recordings label. 'Jaam Ak Salam' is taken from a forthcoming album called 'Rhythms'.

Bonnacons of Doom in Paste Magazines 'Best new bands from Liverpool'

They say:

Bonnacons of Doom
Experimental collective Bonnacons of Doom released their self-titled debut album this summer, and it’s not for those looking for approachable pop songs. Their gorgeous, sinister blend of krautrock, psych, noise rock and hard rock is abrasive but worthwhile once you let it fully seep into your brain.

Review, videos and pictures from Bonnacons of Doom's Newcastle show

It says:

BONNACONS OF DOOM. THE CLUNY. 10.8.18
Oscar Wilde’s sentiment ‘give a man a mask and he will show you his true face’ suggests we may only be the truest, deepest, version of ourselves when we are either in character or incognito.  From music artists (Bono, Bowie) to anonymous websites to Halloween parties, evidence shows that we may behave ‘out of character’ when our surroundings disguise our need to act in the way we believe we are known for.

Who would we be if there were no consequences?

Mirror-mask-wearing Bonnacons of Doom pose similar questions in a show designed to ask tough, identity-defining, questions.  Who are we and how do we feel when we spend time looking at our own reflections?

Soundtracked by electronic experimentation, loud feedback, and repetitive drone, Doom’s show is emotive and sinister, creating a shocking atmosphere reminiscent of, say, Kubrick’s ‘Eyes wide shut’ or the who’s-behind-the-mask fear of Carpenter’s ‘Halloween’.  This is not a show for the faint-hearted...

Line of the Best Fit give GNOD's Chapel Perilous a 8.5/10 review

They say:

Gnod have never felt more vital than on Chapel Perilous

For those that have been following the band for some time, thinking about Gnod as a static concept is a genuine struggle. Members have dropped in and out, and their progression as a band has been that of constant evolution, mutating from one post-rock/hardcore record to the next.

The Salford act’s release last year, Just Say No The Psycho Right-Wing Capitalist Fascist Industrial Death Machine, was a genuine feat, highly charged with political fury, and is widely considered their magnum opus. Tracks such as ‘’Stick In The Wheel’’ are standout gems in the Gnod songbook, and the album as a whole was a real signal of their intent.

Chapel Perilous, the Salford quartet’s latest release, is a masterclass in going as direct and disturbing as possible over the course of only five tracks. The name itself comes from a book by Robert Anton Wilson, Cosmic Trigger, referring to a state where the supernatural and the real converge. This meeting of two separate states is clearly reflected in both the recording of the album, comprised during a series of sessions where the band felt free to perform as they wished and so pushed boundaries previously unexplored, as well its haunting outcome...

'rock-station.over' gives Anthroprophh's OMEGAVILLE a 9/10 review

They say:

MY SPRING: I had to go back several times to write the name of the Group correctly and I still can not pronounce it the first time but no matter, only the Music is important and at this level, I I was not disappointed by the Trio from Bristol. "Omegaville" is a real UFO Musical, completely barred and totally crazy, without tail or head but in the end, we become completely addict! Moreover, this Punk Punk salad reminds me of the craziest works of the filmmaker Takashi Miike, "Ichi the Killer" and "Visitor Q", totally inaccessible for the common people but of a formidable intensity if we make the effort (a big effort) to take an interest in the artist!  9/10

BEST TITLE: "Housing Act 1980"
