Cone Magazine reviews Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation live at The Louisiana in Bristol

Bristol fans of this Swedish psychedelic sextet were treated to a sold out show on Friday, with eclectic support from London’s DJ Cherrystones.

Having visited the city just last October when they supported Goat on their European tour, Josefin Öhrn + The Liberation followed suit with their own headline tour this spring. Their infectious and original blend of noise-rock, psychedelia and tribal trance is a breath of fresh air amid sounds that fall flat in their attempt to corner a niche. Releasing their second full-length ‘Mirage’ on the London fuzz-psych label Rocket Recordings also doesn’t appear to pigeon-hole their music, but rather stand as an identification of their musical ilk in today’s cross-pollinated landscape...

Backseat Mafia reviews Gnod's 'Just say no...'

It reads:

Rating: 8/10

Gnod are a punk infused psych krautrock collective hailing from Salford, Greater Manchester. Having formed in 2006 they have become an institution in their own right and are essentially a collective with a rotating list of musicians who frequent art-hub Islington Mill.

With an impressive back catalogue under their belt they have garnered an increasing amount of attention to their cause, in particular of note are albums Ingnodwetrust (2011), Infinity Machines (2015) and Mirror (2016) as well as collaborative efforts, most notably Drop Out with White Hills II (2010).


The band now signed to Rocket Recordings, have previously released music on their own label Tesla Tapes which also encourages ‘Gnodheads’ past, present and feature as well as friends from all over the world to use the label as an outlet for musical meanderings...

Kuro Black Magic – 'special collaborative set' for Supersonic Festival

Excited to announce KURO will be playing a very special collaborative set at this years Supersonic Festival.

Supersonic says:

Kuro feature the amplified talents of French violinist Agathe Max and bassist Gareth Turner, joined by Valentina Magaletti of Tomaga (drums) and Helen Papaioannou (baritone sax) for this Superspecial Supersonic performance.

Kuro take their name from the Japanese word for ‘black’, and their debut release for Rocket Recordings marks an experimental union between two diversely storied yet inherently like-minded musicians. Agathe Max, who hails from Lyon, is a classically-trained violinist with a varied back catalogue of studio and live work – running the gamut from spectral ambience to stately soundscapes and adept at summoning dream states and drama alike...

The Monitors say some words on Gnoomes and Hey Colosssus

Rocket Recordings expand their increasingly global outlook with Gnoomes, a Russian trio whose unshrinking psychedelia naturally bends towards the label’s orbit. ‘City Monk’ is one of the most effortlessly fluid tracks on their recently released album Tschak!, sounding like Deerhunter’s ‘Cryptograms’ if performed by a blissed out Simeon Coxe.

Hey Colossus – Experts Toll
Experts, eh? WE’VE ALL HAD ENOUGH OF BLOODY EXPERTS RIGHT? Oh no wait, it’s poor quality insoles we’ve all had enough of. Not many fans of experts around these days either though. Luckily Hey Colossus are back to take issue with the wilful ignorance and obfuscation that are increasingly defining our era, and doing in typically robust style. ‘Experts Toll’ is significantly more tuneful than previous releases, continuing their progression towards more melodic territory but without abandoning the amped-up engine that got them there.

Gnod and White Hills play show together

One of our best selling records is Gnod's album 'Dropout with White Hills'...the collaboration 2LP between both bands.

And we are excited to announce that they are playing a co-headline show together on 24 May at the Cluny in Newcastle.

Both bands played live together when we curated a stage at Liverpool Psych fest so be great to see them on the same stage again...will they do a live collaboration of tracks from 'Dropout' again?  Will have to wait and see...

Echoes and Dust review of Hills – Alive at Roadburn

It reads:

Forever destined to stand within Goat’s shadow, label-mates Hills may miss out on the hype & glory that the aforementioned psychedelic tribe get. Or they may not, depending on your point of view as to whether they are one and the same band. Forever entwined in mystery, where the former is getting slightly over-egged, Hills have left it to the music to do the talking. Over the course of three albums, Hills, Master Sleeps and Frid, they have created an other-worldy kind of music which takes in psychedelic extremes of dance, space rock and as in keeping with Goat’s breakthrough release, world music.

It is in the live arena that Hills truly excel and having wowed the crowd at Liverpool Psych Fest in 2015, they did the same thing again at the ever impressive Roadburn Festival. Joining a growing number of artists to have released a live recording of their show at this festival, Hills throw in another worthy addition to their increasing music collection...
